Sandburg Softball Drops 2 Against St. Ambrose JV

St. Ambrose JV kept the Carl Sandburg College softball team’s bats in check Friday, sweeping the Chargers 4-2 and 8-1 on a windy afternoon at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
After a sacrifice fly from Lizzie Malcolm (Milan, Ill./Alleman) got Sandburg within 4-2 in the fifth, the Chargers had runners at second and third with two out in the inning, but Jada Fletcher (Oquawka, Ill./West Central) lined out to left to end the threat.

Sandburg Star of the Game
Freshman first baseman Whitney Wynkoop (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate, singling four times and adding a run.

Freshman Katie Droste (Biggsville, Ill./West Central) singled, walked and scored the Chargers’ lone run on Fletcher’s first-inning base hit.
